The Peninsula Beverly Hills is proud to announce a creative collaboration with the British Fashion Council’s Fashion Arts Foundation. The project, a collaboration between The Peninsula Hotels and the British non-profit, was filmed overnight on location at The Peninsula Beverly Hills.
Filmed entirely at the hotel as guests slept, Reflections on Hollywood features showstopping British fashion design and seductive storylines. Created by an emerging directorial talent, Jessica de Rothschild, the original short film celebrates the very best of British fashion, set within the most stylish hotel in Beverly Hills.
Inspired by old Hollywood, Writer and Director de Rothschild weaves a tale of modern, magical glamour. Set at The Peninsula's iconic Beverly Hills hotel, the film follows actress Yvonne Scio as she embarks on a dreamlike adventure throughout the property. Styled by Emmy Award-winning and Academy Award-nominated costume designer Julie Weiss, ethereal dresses from Preen by Thornton Bregazzis' Spring 2017 collection are showcased alongside pieces by Gieves & Hawkes and jewels by Stephen Webster. Sacha Gervasi, who wrote his acclaimed film The Terminal while living at The Peninsula Beverly Hills in the 2000’s, acted as Executive Producer.
de Rothschild commented: ‘Reflections on Hollywood is a modern love letter to the glamour of old Hollywood. The rock'n'roll, insouciant attitude of Preen by Thornton Bregazzi and Stephen Webster and the classic elegance of Gieves & Hawkes, all combine perfectly to tell a story of one magical night at the iconic Peninsula Beverly Hills. As we follow Miss Diamond, a famous movie star, on an enchanting adventure through the hotel, we are reminded of the joy and innocence that lies at the heart of all creativity.’
Offer Nissenbaum, Managing Director of The Peninsula Beverly Hills, commented: ‘We happily partnered with The British Fashion Council to create a film that truly brings the hotel to life. Jessica de Rothschild perfectly captured our property during the most glamorous time of the year, when the hotel is abuzz with anticipation and excitement. Seeing the project develop from vision to reality was an extraordinary process and we loved recreating the spirit of awards season with Hollywood magic!’
Reflections on Hollywood was screened for the first time at BAFTA on 22 June in London. The guest list at the glittering screening included international celebrities, socialites and key fashion influencers, as well as representatives from designers and filmmakers. The short film will be screened in Los Angeles later this year.
